King Kong and Godzilla (airing the day after) a New York Thanksgiving tradition from 1976 though 1985 on WOR 9.

An actual human brain in a jar for only $2400 at Obscura. Unfortunately it isn’t coming home with me.

Sorry about the lack of posts, but my job has taken me to New Haven, Conneticut for the past four weeks. Work has been very taxing, but this displacement has allowed me to spend quality time with my best fiends Spidermartini (Carmen) & Cromsfury (James). Of course I managed to drag them to Obscura! I will be returning home this weekend to my house of horrors, the cat who misses me, and the wife who misses me the most.

Commercial for New York’s WOR-TV 9 day after Thanksgiving Godzilla Marathon. I love the goof by the announcer stating that Godzilla Vs the Cosmic Monster stars Jack Palance.
If you lived in New York between 1976 and 1985 then you probably experienced WOR-TV 9’s Holiday Movie Marathon of King Kong and Godzilla films. Thanksgiving Day you would see King Kong (1933), Son Of Kong (1933), and Mighty Joe Young (1949). The day after the monster mash up’s would continue with three more films changing over the years to include King Kong Escapes (1967), King Kong Vs. Godzilla (1962), Godzilla Vs. The Smog Monster (1971), Son Of Godzilla (1967), Godzilla Vs. The Sea Monster (1966), Godzilla Vs. Megalon (1973), and Godzilla Vs. The Cosmic Monster (1974). The days of TV stations doing things like this are long gone, and Thanksgiving just isn’t the same without Kong and Godzilla, however thanks to DVD and Bluray I can have my own monster marathon.
