Evelyn Ankers had a rough time on the set of The Wolf Man (1941). Lon Chaney Jr. delighted in sneaking up on her in full makeup and scaring her senseless. In a deleted scene, a bear was to wrestle with the werewolf but broke loose, chasing the actress up into the soundstage’s rafters.

Lon Chaney Jr. & Moose.

While working at Universal Studios in the 1940’s, Lon Chaney Jr. befriended a German Shepherd named Moose. The dog performed in several Universal movies including playing the “wolf” that bit Lon in The Wolf Man (1941). Moose could always recognize Lon, regardless of the make-up he was wearing. Sadly, the friendship ended when Moose was run over by a studio truck during the filming of COBRA WOMAN in 1944.
